Dr. Jay Kocian, DDS

Dr. Jay Kocian grew up in Dwight, Nebraska and has called Gretna home since 1997. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Sciences from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating with highest distinction, before going on to earn his dental degree from UNMC College of Dentistry in 2013.

After spending several years practicing in the Omaha area, Dr. Kocian did what he had always intended to do: he opened Kocian Family Dental in Gretna in 2019, bringing comprehensive dental care directly to the community he has lived in for over two decades. Since then, he has continued pursuing advanced training in implants, endodontics, Invisalign, sleep apnea, cosmetic dentistry, and Botox for esthetics and TMD treatment.

His wife, Lynn has been practicing medicine in Gretna as a Physician Assistant for more than twenty years. Dr. Kocian has two children, Carter and Raigan. They both attended and graduated from Gretna High School. In the twenty-three years Dr. Kocian has lived in Gretna he’s been active in the community coaching many of his two children’s sports teams, helping his wife with Gretna Health Fairs, and volunteering with the Gretna Days Foundation Dr. Kocian always wanted to practice Dentistry in Gretna serving the community and surrounding areas.

In his free time Dr. Kocian spends most of his time with his family, trying to get some exercise, or in the outdoors.

Dr. Carter Kocian, DDS

Dr. Carter Kocian grew up in Gretna, Nebraska. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Wayne State College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was also an active member of the Wayne State College Baseball team for both his Freshman and Sophomore year. He then attended the UNMC College of Dentistry, graduating in May of 2025.

Carter grew up in sports, thus is an avid sports fan. His favorite teams include the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers and of course, anything Nebraska.

In the office, Dr. Carter places a special emphasis on Implant Dentistry, as he completed intensive training on full mouth surgery and implants. When not in the office, Carter enjoys the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, as well as running and lifting weights. It has always been his dream to work alongside his father, Dr. Jay Kocian. Dr. Carter is both proud and excited to now live that dream and bring a family based approach to providing exceptional and individualized care to serve those in his hometown.
